Cath Lab
A Catheterization Laboratory, commonly known as a Cath Lab, is a specialized medical facility within a hospital where minimally invasive procedures are performed to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions. Rajnish Hospital is equipped with a state-of-the-art Cath Lab, providing advanced cardiac care services to patients.
Common procedures conducted in the Cath Lab include:
Coronary Angiography: This procedure involves injecting a contrast dye into the coronary arteries to visualize any blockages or narrowing (stenosis). It helps cardiologists assess the extent and location of coronary artery disease (CAD).
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI): Also known as coronary angioplasty or stenting, PCI is performed in the Cath Lab to open blocked or narrowed coronary arteries. A balloon-tipped catheter is used to widen the artery, and a stent may be placed to keep the artery open and improve blood flow to the heart muscle.
Electrophysiology Studies (EPS): EPS are conducted in the Cath Lab to evaluate the electrical activity of the heart and identify abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias). It helps guide treatment decisions, such as catheter ablation for certain arrhythmias.
Implantation of Cardiac Devices: Procedures such as implanting pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices are performed in the Cath Lab to manage heart rhythm disorders and heart failure.
Peripheral Vascular Interventions: Catheter-based procedures are also used to treat peripheral artery disease (PAD), carotid artery disease, and other vascular conditions affecting blood vessels outside the heart.
Rajnish Hospital’s Cath Lab is equipped with advanced imaging technology, such as fluoroscopy and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), to aid in precise diagnosis and intervention. The collaboration of skilled medical professionals and cutting-edge technology in the Cath Lab ensures that patients receive high-quality cardiovascular care and optimal outcomes for their cardiac conditions.
